Hazards, Infrastructure Networks and Unspecific Resilience

چکیده

The aim of this paper is to provide a framework improve urban resilience independently the nature disturbances. Recent disasters had significant impact on critical infrastructures providing essential services such as energy, transportation, telecommunication, water and food supply or health care. Indeed, several natural human-made hazards may lead disruptions, most are networked highly interdependent. Henceforth, building remain focused specific improving resilience, separately, single infrastructures. In order enhance based learnings from three case studies that 2001 WTC terrorist attack, hurricanes Irma Maria in 2017 2016 Seine river flood Paris. These events highlight disruptions services, but also some options. light both literature our studies, unspecific provided for principles, namely omnivory, redundancy, buffering, high flux, homeostasis flatness within electric transportation networks. Rebuilding further discussed with respect all kinds disruptive events.

Integrated Approach to Assess the Resilience of Future Electricity Infrastructure Networks to Climate Hazards

Electricity systems are undergoing unprecedented change, with growing capacity for low-carbon generation, and an increasingly distributed approach to network control. Furthermore, the severity of climate related threats is projected to increase. To improve our understanding of the risks from these changes, this paper presents a novel modeling approach to assess the resilience of future electric...

Resilience of Hierarchical Critical Infrastructure Networks

Concern over the resilience of critical infrastructure networks has increased dramatically over the last decade due to a number of well documented failures and the significant disruption associated with these. This has led to a large body of research that has adopted graph-theoretic based analysis in order to try and improve our understanding of infrastructure network resilience. Many studies h...

Design for Resilience in Infrastructure Distribution Networks

The recognition that resilience is a critical aspect of infrastructure resilience has caused the national and homeland security communities to ask “How does one ensure infrastructure resilience?” Previous analysis methods have primarily focused on system recovery activities following the occurrence of a disruptive event. In this report, we expand on those methods by including pre-disruption inv...

Resilience of Electricity Infrastructure

2. Resilience is not achieved by picking off and solving individual problems but results from the inter-play of all the multiple inter-related components and factors that form the whole electricity system. The lessons that can be learnt from the last period when electricity resilience was an issue, the 3 day week in the 1970s, are of limited value in the current context because both the underly...

Operational models of infrastructure resilience.

We propose a definition of infrastructure resilience that is tied to the operation (or function) of an infrastructure as a system of interacting components and that can be objectively evaluated using quantitative models. Specifically, for any particular system, we use quantitative models of system operation to represent the decisions of an infrastructure operator who guides the behavior of the ...
